Atmospheric Remote Sensing
The connection between clouds, aerosols in the clouds, and climate change has been scientifically established. Studying the characteristics of the cloud-formation process provides accurate input to climate models. Tesscorn provides ground-based remote sensing techniques (lidars, ceilometers and cloud radar) that enable the detection and characterization of aerosol layers. Cloud lidars are active optical sensors to detect and monitor the development of clouds and aerosols. Ceilometer is a simplified version designed to detect the base height of clouds. Cloud radars are active microwave sensors to detect and to monitor the development of clouds and precipitation.
