Air monitoring: Nephelometers produce data for India Meteorological Department (IMD)

IMD measures air pollutant levels by operating a network of monitoring and sampling equipment at sites throughout India. These sites (mountain peaks of Tehri Himalayas to the Andaman & Nicobar Islands) are operated and maintained by IMD with the goal of collecting complete and accurate air quality data and they form the foundation of IMD’s monitoring network. Tesscorn AeroFluid installed 12 Ecotech Nephelometers  in this network for measuring visibility. The Nephelometer instrument measures the amount of particles in the air using very sensitive, light-scattering sensors and calculates a visibility reduction index.
